Summary: Change Round-Up takes the concept of the "spare change donation jar" and applies it to the internet and the e-commerce industry.
When customers are shopping at existing online retail websites, we ask them if they would like to round-up their purchase price to the nearest whole dollar and donate that “spare change” to a charity of their choice.
Details: Participating retailers can choose between 4-5 charities that they want to support and that they think their customer will want to donate to. Then the customer/donor can choose from that list to specify which charity should receive the gift. They can also choose to enter in a different (hopefully larger) amount to donate.
This service is free to retailers, and Change Round-Up can even pay them to participate. Participating non-profit organizations (must be 501(c)(3) as defined by the IRS) are charged a fee of 10% of donations. This fee goes to covering credit card expenses, Change Round-Up’s fee as well as retailer implementation costs if applicable.
